GROUNDHOG NOT SHADOWING HOME SALES

Since starting in the real estate business in 1994, I have cannot remember a time of being this busy this time of year.  Buyers are out looking AND they are out buying.  The reason?  A lot of buyers who have been sitting on the fence waiting are now getting off that fence and taking advantage of the incredibly low interest rates.  From first time buyers, to buyers who are downsizing or moving up, buyers are out buying!  And it’s just not here in Jonesboro, AR either, take a look at the below article from the National Association of Realtors, NAR released its latest pending home sales index figure last week and for the second month in a row the index is up. But more than that, the index has broken 100. This is significant because the only time since the housing boom collapsed that the index has broken 100 is when the home owner tax credit was in effect. The fact that the index has returned to that level a year since the credit has been in effect means the housing market is strengthening completely on its own, without any stimulus. [Read more...]

IF AGING HAD A FACE, IT WOULD WEAR LIPSTICK!

While stereotypes often portray older women as a homogeneous group, age 50+ women are probably more diverse than any other age group for either gender.  Not only do the terms elderly, senior and older include women whose ages span more than four decades, these terms encompass groups of women who vary widely in terms of income, educational attainment, health functional abilities, living arrangements, and access to support services.

Women are the majority of caregivers, yet so many times we do not think to care for ourselves, especially when it comes to our real estate plans and future housing needs.  We do make plans when it comes to health and financial issues, so why not with real estate needs and future housing concerns?

ALL ABOARD!!

A train packed full of ERA® brokers, agents and office personnel en route to IBC 2012– that’s the vision of Kim Stem, Relocation Director at ERA Doty Real Estate. ERA Doty Real Estate folks, along with many other ERA companies, will be taking the Amtrak service from Memphis, Tenn. to New Orleans on Tuesday, March 13, departing at 6:50 a.m. and arriving in New Orleans at 3:32 p.m. 

GET ABOARD THE SOLD TRAIN

Visit the Amtrak website to book your ticket(s) – it’s highly suggested you book ASAP, as seats are just as limited as airplanes. The cost is roughly $120 per personyou can’t drive or fly that cheap!

 
There are a variety of departing train times and stations, however if you wish to join ERA Doty, they will be departing on Sunday, March 18 at 1:45 p.m., arriving in Memphis at 10:00 p.m.
